Dr. Rik and Patient

He has recently received specialized training at the Prince Leopold Institute of Tropical Medicine in Belgium. It's one of the world´s leading institutes for training, research and services delivery in tropical medicine and health care in developing countries. The skills learned there are proving to be extremely helpful while working in the Amazon region of Bolivia.

Rik founded— together with his wife, Sabine—in Bolivia many inland clinics and started three logistical and training centers in Bolivia to be able to bring God's mercy and care to the tribes and villages ranging from the Quechua Indians (Incas) in the high altitudes of the Andes Mountains to the Eastern Amazon tribes such as the Chacobo, Movimas and Cayubabas in the lower regions of the tropics and to the Southern Chaco dessert where the Guaranis, the Weenhayek and the Tapiete live.
